SERVICE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
ROLE OVERVIEW
The service engineering group is responsible for the maintenance and correction of products that have been sold as well as the development, testing, and construction of new equipment and products. Service Engineering Technicians offer training, off-site/on-site troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance as well as other after-sales technical support solutions. Service Engineering Technicians are often the ones who interact with customers to provide information and procedures to address the inquiries, concerns and requests regarding their products and services. They play a critical role in troubleshooting and correcting challenges alongside engineers for internal processes and product development.
Typical work duties of a Service Engineering Technician include: responds to customer issues; evaluates and resolves problems of the customer; analyzes, inspects and reviews findings to determine the solution to the problem that the customer demands; works alongside engineers, production team, service technicians, and sales representatives to support internal and external customers; offers customer training for the product; create training material for customers and internal personnel; clarify the intent of product manuals; monitors performance and reliability of Kwik Lok product; develops and maintains relations with customers; reports common issues of customers to top management in order to address the situation for future reference; and offers feedback on product development, features and functions. This position supports Kwik Lok production activities through the manufacture of Kwik Lok closures with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Compiles, verifies, and correlates technical data from production, engineering, and assembly.
- Coordinates with production team, engineers, assembly technicians, vendors and suppliers to resolve issues.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of standard assembly and service technician procedures to ensure that assembly needs are met in a safe, secure, dependable, efficient, and flexible manner.
- Assist in the development, testing, and launch of new retail and production machines, closures, and other products.
- Provides direct support to Kwik Lok customers.
- Assembly and installation of equipment as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 6 years of related experience
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Must possess a valid US passport (or be able to obtain one within 3 months of hire), and be able to travel internationally. Travel schedules vary.
KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with all Kwik Lok products
- Experience with CAD software
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
- Understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experienced with machine assembly, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- High attention to detail in documenting processes, procedures, and data

- Pay scale:
- $26.29-$33.23 per hour depending on experience
- Additional $10.00 per hour when traveling/working at customer locations
- Overtime is paid at time and a half
- Insurance Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and Disability Insurance plans (60 day waiting period)
- Retirement Benefits: 401K Plan with company match (90 day waiting period - restrictions apply)
- Paid Time Off: (90 day waiting period, prorated for first year)
- Vacation: 120 hours a year, with increases based on years of service
- Holidays: 70 hours a year (8.5 days): 1 Floating Holiday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, half day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
- Sick Leave: 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked for hourly employees, salary employees prorated for first year
- Other Compensation: Employees may be eligible for annual performance bonuses
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Travel schedules will vary.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, walk, talk and hear. Frequently bends, squats, kneels. Uses hands to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaches with hands and arms. May lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly sitting and/or standing at a computer or in an airplane when traveling.
- Noise level in office environment 10dB, 85-95 dB in production environment.
