ROLE OVERVIEW

Assembly Technicians develop and maintain advanced knowledge of all Kwik Lok semiautomatic and automatic bag closing machines, conveyors, and accessories, and are encouraged to give feedback and input to innovate existing and newly designed machines! This position will travel to customer locations up to 50% of the time, to assist with troubleshooting and repair. Assembly Technicians supports Kwik Lok production activities through the assembly of Kwik Lok bag closure machines and printers with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Assemble and repair Kwik Lok semiautomatic and automatic bag closing machines and accessories within allotted timeframes
  • Develop troubleshooting skillset to support and assist with customer issues or installations via phone or email
  • Provide technical issue resolution for customers with Kwik Lok machines
  • Install Kwik Lok bag closing machines and accessories at customer locations
  • Coordinate sales opportunities with Regional Sales Managers
  • Present customers with the option to purchase a preventative maintenance program
  • Account for all tools following the maintenance, repair, or setup of each machine
  • Provide support for Regional Sales Managers, including setup and participation at trade shows when needed
  • Mentor and assist in training

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of related experience; Previous mechanical, maintenance, or repair experience (preferably in the produce or bakery industry)
  • Understanding of advanced mechanical and electrical functionalities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Must possess a valid US Passport and driver's license (or be able to obtain within 3 months of hire)
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally to customer locations, up to 50% of the time

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English languages preferred
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve technical and/or mechanical issues
  • Ability to use a wide range of tools and follow assembly manuals and engineering drawings
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a safe and productive manner, and be a team player
  • Desire for continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

ALL THE DETAILS…

  • Pay scale: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour when working in Yakima, $24.00 - $34.00 per hour when traveling/working at customer locations
    • Traveling technicians earn $24.00 per hour when in training for traveling technician duties, only when traveling. Once travel technician training and competencies are met traveling technicians earn $34.00 per hour, only when traveling.

  • Retirement Benefits: 401K Plan with company match (90 day waiting period - restrictions apply)
  • Paid Time Off: (90 day waiting period, prorated for first year)
    • Vacation: 80 hours a year, with increases based on years of service
    • Holidays: 58 hours a year (7 days): New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, and Christmas Day
    • Sick Leave: 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked for hourly employees, salary employees prorated for first year
  • Other Compensation: Employees may be eligible for annual performance bonuses
  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday 5am-3:30pm
  • Work Environment: Manufacturing facility in Yakima, Washington.
  • Noise level is minimum, occasionally bends, squats, reaches or kneels. Regularly sits, stands, walks. Constantly hearing, seeing, and talking.
