ASSEMBLY SERVICE TECHNICIAN

ROLE OVERVIEW

Assembly Service Technicians develop and maintain advanced knowledge of all Kwik Lok semiautomatic and automatic bag closing machines, conveyors, and accessories, and are encouraged to give feedback and input to innovate existing and newly designed machines! This position may include the opportunity to travel to customer locations to assist with troubleshooting and repair. Assembly Service Technicians support Kwik Lok production activities through the assembly of Kwik Lok bag closure machines and printers with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

  • Assemble and repair Kwik Lok semiautomatic and automatic bag closing machines and accessories within allotted timeframes, and develop troubleshooting skillset to support and assist with customer issues or installations via phone or email
    • Proficiency in assembly of automatic machines: 893B, 910A, 865A, 865B, 909AD, and all associated printers: 897B, 904B, 905B, 912B, 915B
    • Proficiency in the assembly of semi-automatic machines: 088A, 088AP, 087B, 086B, 1002FP, and all associated printers: 897B, 904B, 905B, 912B, 915B
  • Provide technical issue resolution for customers with Kwik Lok machines
  • Install Kwik Lok bag closing machines and accessories at customer locations
  • Coordinate sales opportunities with Regional Sales Managers
  • Present customers with the option to purchase a preventative maintenance program
  • Account for all tools following the maintenance, repair, or setup of each machine
  • Provide support for Regional Sales Managers, including setup and participation at trade shows when needed
  • Mentor and assist in training

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of related experience; Previous mechanical, maintenance, or repair experience (preferably in the produce or bakery industry)
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical functionalities
  • Must possess a valid US Passport and driver’s license
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug and background screenings
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English languages a plus
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve technical and/or mechanical issues
  • Ability to use a wide range of tools and follow assembly manuals and engineering drawings
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a safe and productive manner, and be a team player
  • Desire for continuous learning
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

ALL THE DETAILS…

  • Pay range: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on experience when working in Yakima, time and a half paid per hour when traveling/working at customer locations
  • Insurance Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and Disability Insurance plans (60 day waiting period)
  • Retirement Benefits: 401K Plan with company match (90 day waiting period - restrictions apply)
  • Paid Time Off: (90 day waiting period, prorated for first year)
    • Vacation: 120 hours a year, with increases based on years of service
    • Holidays: 70 hours a year (8.5 days): 1 Floating Holiday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, half day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
    • Sick Leave: 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked for hourly employees, salary employees prorated for first year
  • Other Compensation: Employees may be eligible for annual performance bonuses
  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm
  • Location: Yakima, Washington
  • Work environment: Occasionally bends, squats, reaches, kneels, and may lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion. Constantly seeing, hearing, talking. Noise level in office environment 10dB, 85-95 dB in production environment.
