ELECTRICAL DESIGNER

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and components for various projects across our organization, supporting the electrical needs of our Engineering department. This multifaceted role will also assist our Certification Lead in ensuring certifications of all Kwik Lok machine product lines, and your expertise will be instrumental in making a significant impact on our products and overall business success. Once knowledgeable in certifications (estimated 1 year to competency), this position will take over ownership of the Certification Lead scope.

You will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineers, Automation Engineers, and other professionals on the Kwik Lok team to create innovative solutions that meet project requirements while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.This position upholds the Kwik Lok Corporation philosophies through dedication to quality, integrity, and hard work. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS

ELECTRICAL DESIGN

  • Maintain proficiency in the operation, controls, and logic of Kwik Lok retail machines and printers, and in-house production equipment
  • Manage electrical designs for existing and new Kwik Lok equipment:
    • Develop safe and precise designs that comply with recognized drafting standards, quality assurance, company practices, policies, and procedures
    • Create electrical schematics, layouts, and other supporting documentation for designs
    • Explore and innovate new control system technologies through continual evaluation of industry trends
    • Lead the programming of PLCs, HMIs, motor controllers, and all other equipment control systems
  • Effectively serve internal and external customers with troubleshooting associated with electrical and software issues
  • Assist in investigating and implementing automation advances in global production
  • Demonstrate and maintain proficiency and technical expertise in electrical systems, current codes, standards, procedures, and production software
  • Develop and maintain internal standards and documentation for electrical design

CERTIFICATION

  • Assist Certification Lead in ensuring certifications of all Kwik Lok machine product lines. Once knowledgeable in certifications (estimated 1 year to competency), this position will take over ownership of the Certification Lead scope.
  • Point of contact between certifying bodies and Kwik Lok for machine certifications, answering technical questions and providing component information or research
  • Lead and initiate certification efforts for new and existing machines:
    • Proactively monitor current reports, ensuring alignment with certification requirements
    • Determine which certifications apply to our current and future product lines, continually audit certification requirements, and facilitate machine testing for compliance, leading mitigation efforts when necessary
    • Analyze component interchangeability and initiate report changes as necessary for supply chain disruptions or engineering change requirements
    • Monitor modifications to ensure changes made do not impact certifications and take appropriate actions if required
    • Monitor test procedures required for machine certification
    • Develop and maintain internal standards and documentation for certification compliance
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing department to ensure compliant builds

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associates or 2-year degree in related field or trade school certification in drafting, design, instrumentation, industrial automation technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in the design of power distribution, control, and grounding systems for industrial or manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Able to interface and work closely with highly technical personnel, and across the organization from senior executive to individual contributor level
    • In-depth working knowledge and application of the electrical discipline (machine wiring techniques, PLC functionalities, coding)
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
    • CAD experience preferred
    • Ability to read, analyze, understand, and interpret design and electrical drawings
    • Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Annual salary range commensurate with experience: $65,284-78,037
  • Insurance Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and Disability Insurance plans
  • Retirement Benefits: 401(k) Plan with company match (90 day waiting period - restrictions apply)
  • Paid Time Off: (90 day waiting period, prorated for first year)
    • Vacation: 120 hours a year, with increases based on years of service
    • Holidays: 70 hours a year (8.5 days): 1 Floating Holiday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and the Friday following, half day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
    • Sick Leave: 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked for hourly employees, salary employees prorated for first year
  • Other Compensation: Employees may be eligible for annual performance bonuses
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Location: Office environment in Yakima, Washington with hybrid schedules considered (fully remote not available)
  • Work environment: Office environment in a manufacturing facility. Occasionally bends, squats, reaches, kneels, and may lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion. Constantly seeing, hearing, talking. Noise level in office environment 10dB, 85-95 dB in production environment. Regularly sitting and/or standing at a computer.
